WordGuess No. 18

Ready

WordGuess No. 18

A hidden 5-letter word, and 6 guesses to find it. The clock starts when you press start — not before.

How to play
  1. Guess the hidden 5-letter word in 6 tries.
  2. Every guess has to be a real word — anything the dictionary does not know is refused, and refusing one does not cost you a try. Names are not words here: places, people and brands (MALTA, PARIS, SARAH) are refused too.
  3. After each guess every letter is marked: in the word and in the right place in the word but somewhere else not in the word at all
  4. A letter that appears twice is marked twice — and one that appears once is only ever marked once, however many times you guess it.

  4. A letter that appears twice is marked twice — and one that appears once is only ever marked once, however many times you guess it.

Type a 5-letter word and press Enter — on the keys above, or on a real keyboard, whichever you have. Backspace takes a letter back. A guess has to be a word the dictionary knows, and one it does not know is refused without costing you a try. Nothing is marked until you press Enter, so a half-typed row gives nothing away. Every guess is marked in full: a letter in the right place, a letter in the word but somewhere else, and a letter that is not there at all — and the keys above keep the score, so you never have to remember what you have already ruled out.
